Our mission is simple: to provide athletes of all ages and backgrounds with the opportunity to develop not only their athletic ability, but also their mindset, character, and work ethic in pursuit of their personal goals. We’re excited to bring this opportunity to Southwest Wisconsin and equip student-athletes with resources that haven’t always been available in the area.

The NextGen team:
Malik Winston - LEad Trainer/co-owner
Malik brings hands-on experience from training with several highly regarded performance facilities in the Madison area. He has also coached varsity football and led the Strength and Speed program at his alma mater, working with athletes of all ages and ability levels. Malik is passionate about developing well-rounded athletes and is guided by his values of faith, family, community, and serving a purpose bigger than himself.
That foundation is built on his background as a standout multi-sport athlete from Mount Horeb, best known for his decorated football career. He was a three-time All-Conference selection, including two-time First Team Unanimous honors, and played a key role in the Mount Horeb–Barneveld program. He continued his academic and athletic career at Northern Illinois University studying Kinesiology and Exercise Science while competing with the football program, before transferring to Fullerton College (CA), where he earned his degree in Business Communications and received All-Conference honors in 2022.
Cade Johnson - Business director/co-owner
Cade is a native of Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, and a graduate of Mount Horeb High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Sports Communication. While at UW–Madison, Cade worked as a play-by-play announcer covering Wisconsin Badgers athletics, including men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and softball, and currently serves as the voice of Mount Horeb/Barneveld athletics on Wisco Radio during football and basketball seasons. He also brings experience coaching varsity summer basketball.
At NextGen Athletics, Cade oversees event operations, marketing, and business strategy, helping grow the program and expand opportunities for athletes across the area. He is passionate about building a strong community through sports and creating an environment where athletes can develop both in performance and mindset.
In addition to co-owning NextGen, Cade is also a licensed real estate agent serving southern Wisconsin.
